Chaos in Alexandra as South African municipal workers affiliated to SAMWU upended rubbish bins on the streets of the overcrowded township. The National Office bearers (NOB’s) did not sanction the strike. A strong worded press release claims that it was a bogus CEC meeting that took a decision to strike in Gauteng.

SAMWU National spokesperson Papikie Mohale was very evasive on this issue and referred WWMP to SAMWU’s president who is not responding to calls or questions sent by SMS.
