Buffalo City claims that it loses millions to illegal connections

The Buffalo City Metro Municipality in the Eastern Cape loses approximately R228-million to illegal connections per year. Informal settlement residents continue to reconnect themselves to the electricity grid after the municipality disconnects their illegal supply.

Bakery workers fired for demanding better working conditions

An employer in Port Elizabeth who dismissed some of his workers in January after they allegedly asked for a pay increase and improved working conditions denies that he is a racist. The workers, however, recorded his alleged racist rant in which he calls them animals.

A video showing Bulelani Qolani being dragged naked by the police went viral, attracting widespread condemnation. He says that he was treated in the most inhumane way possible.

Nurses in Zimbabwe were met with police batons and arrests as they demanded better working conditions, improved salaries and provision of PPE.
