Labour Film Festivals
Bringing worker stories and social justice films directly into communities.
Since 2006, we have organised an annual Labour Film Festival showcasing films focused on labour struggles and working-class issues. These festivals are designed to educate, inspire, and mobilise communities.
Community-Centred Approach
Our film festivals operate as roadshows, taking films into working-class communities across the country. In partnership with trade unions, NGOs, and community organisations, we host public screenings followed by discussions and education sessions.
We take labour films directly to the people — where they live and organise.
National Reach
Annual festivals since 2006
Screenings in townships and cities
Public discussions and education
Strong partnerships with unions and NGOs
Recent Festival
Our most recent Labour Film Festival was hosted in 11 different townships and cities across South Africa, expanding access to critical media and strengthening community engagement.
Expanding the Vision
We have worked to encourage partners in neighbouring countries to establish similar labour film festivals. While these efforts have not yet succeeded, the vision remains to build a regional network of worker-focused film platforms.
