South Africa is reputed to have among the highest costs of telecommunications in the world. Of particular concern is the high costs of cellular phone communication and data required to also access the internet. This problem has been highlighted by the ruling party and government officials for several years but no significant changes have come about. Workers on Wednesday discusses the problem of the high cost of telecommunications, its impact on the majority of South Africans and what solutions are possible.

It explores these lived experiences in depth and asks ordinary South Africans in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town if they feel they are getting the quality of service and value for money they expect.
